Company Overview
From about 10 years, the operational context of electricity transmission in Europe has completely changed:
Liberalization of the electricity market: more freedom for market players to adapt in intra-day their generation pattern and to trade across the borders,
Increase of renewable energy generation (mainly wind generation),
Operation of new materials, such as Phase Shifting Transformer.
Efficient and safe management of the electricity system in Western Europe requires means of coordination and organisational structures at this scale.
That’s why Coreso is born. Its aim is to contribute to the following objectives, as recommended by the European Commission:
The operational security of the electricity system,
The integration of large-scale renewable energy generation,
The development of the European electricity market.
Furthermore, the collaboration with National Grid also aims at preparing the development of future projects:
Building of off-shore wind farms on the Channel and the North sea,
Building new DC cables across the Channel and the North Sea (between UK and the Netherlands, UK and Belgium).
