The major objective of Coreso is to avoid large disturbances by intensive studies of the risks and coordination ahead of real-time. Thus the main service provided by Coreso consists in day-ahead and intraday security analyses and remedial actions coordination management.
Nevertheless, in a context of increased volatility of power flows, the occurrence of a large disturbance cannot totally be excluded in case of a series of unforeseen events. That’s why Coreso has developed its tools and procedures to be able to help TSOs in case such an event happens across several countries.
The knowledge of Coreso operators about the different TSOs’ networks and rules is unique in Europe. The operators can then analyse efficiently and understand quickly any large disturbance where several countries are impacted. To support the operators and give them the necessary real-time vision, a specific tool called DADS (Data Acquisition and Display System) based on a Data Historian has been in operation since November 2011. This tool provides Coreso operators with real-time data updated every minute and alarms. The innovative representation of the grid using aggregated indicators makes the analysis of the situation easier.
Thanks to its organisation and skills Coreso provides the TSOs with valuable and comprehensive information that helps them to understand and act efficiently in case a large disturbance happens across Europe.
