Coreso is proud to announce the successful go-live of the RCC task “Regional Sizing of reserve capacity” for the South-West Europe (SWE) System Operation Region (SOR) and, together with TSCNET for the Central Europe (CE) SOR. Through this task, we are now helping Transmission System Operators (TSOs) across Europe to assess whether sufficient reserve capacity is available to keep the lights on when unexpected events occur.
In simple terms, the solution helps answer a key question: Does the region have enough reserve capacity available to maintain a secure electricity system?
By providing a regional overview, the tool enables TSOs to:
✅ Improve security of supply across borders
✅ Make better use of available reserve capacity
✅ Reduce costs through greater coordination
✅ Support the ongoing integration of Europe’s electricity system
This go-live is a remarkable achievement not only because it met an important regulatory deadline, but also because it was delivered in just four mounths, from business requirements to production.
While Coreso independently developed the solution and implemented the task for SWE SOR, the implementation for CE SOR was achieved through close collaboration with TSCNET. For both regions, the IT solutions were developed entirely in-house by the RCCs, showcasing the expertise and commitment of the teams involved. Beyond today’s milestone, the developed solutions lay the foundation for future enhancements, as many of their building blocks will be reused in the next implementation phases.
