Coreso coordinates European electricity flows and provides support to TSOs at Pan-European level and on two regional levels.

Pan-European level

Coreso and the other RCCs support TSOs across the European continent in ensuring security of electricity supply, through the following tasks and services: Common Grid Model, Short-Term Adequacy, Outage Planning Coordination, Defence & Restoration Plans, Post-Operation and Post-Disturbance Analysis, Regional Restoration, Crisis scenario, and Ten-Year Network Development Plan.

System Operation Region (SOR)

We perform the following tasks for the SORs: Sizing of reserve, Procurement of balancing capacity, and Maximum Entry Capacity.

Coreso has been established as RCC for the Central SOR alongside TSCNET, and for the South-West Europe (SWE) SOR.

Capacity Calculation Region (CCR)

Coreso operates in several CCRs which are included in the SORs:

  • Core, Italy North (IN) and Central Europe (CE) CCRs, part of Central SOR;
  • South-West Europe (SWE) CCR, part of SWE SOR;
  • Swiss Northern Borders (SNB).

We are delivering two coordination processes for the CCRs: Coordinated Capacity Calculation and Coordinated Security Analysis.
