Visit from a delegation from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Integration (SARI/EI) program

13 May 2022

On Thursday 12 May 2022, we hosted a visit for the delegation from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) South Asia Regional Initiative for Energy Integration (SARI/EI) program. In total we welcomed 19 visitors: a delegation of 12 energy ministry representatives and power utilities from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, but also USEA representatives.

Organised by the U.S. Energy Association (USEA), the visit aimed at identifying European frameworks and practices that could be adopted in South Asia. Aiming at promoting cross-border electricity trade and renewable energy integration, the USEA study tour also included a meeting at ENTSO-E and at the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER).

The visitors particularly interested in renewable energy integration and regional power markets, we explained the key coordination role of Regional Security Coordinators and future Regional Coordination Centres within the EU TSO community. We also discuss our corporate governance and the electricity regulation context in Europe.
